Matterz Interview: Jax Delamare

The up & coming DJ Jax Delamare with the fresh summer hit, 'Can't Get You Off My Mind' sat and talked with us on Matterz Mag and we have to admit that we are already in love with this incredible guy.

Hi Jax. How have you been?

Yeah wicked thanks! :)

You come from Southampton. Could you describe a typical day of you in a city with a tradition on this genre?

Yeah sure! A typical day for me is waking up in the morning and drinking copious amounts of coffee
with headphones in listening to music on Spotify. I feel like this stimulates my mind for the afternoon
where I usually begin to play either the piano or guitar for writing or finish up some production of a
track I've been working on.

You recently released your new single ‘Can’t Get You Off My Mind’. Would you like to dedicate this song to a specific person? What is the story behind this song?

The story behind this song is actually from me being a bit of a people watcher. I'm always unintentionally
witnessing interesting conversations mainly in bars and clubs and stuff. The story behind this track came
about when I was sitting at this table waiting for my friend to come back from the bar with our drinks,
and I overheard this guy explaining to his friend how he had met a girl at a music festival and how he
had really fallen for her. I just found the story extremely fascinating and thought wow, if I could put half
of the emotion this guy has just portrayed explaining to his friend about the girl he has fallen in love with
into a song. That would make for one hell of a song! So I guess this song is dedicated to the girl with no
name!

Are you planning to release a music video for Can’t Get You Off My Mind?

I have already released a lyric video for the track which you can find on YouTube. But I am looking to
release a video for the track in the near future. Hopefully somewhere exotic like the Caribbean because
there's nothing better than a free holiday!

What do you find inspiring when you are writing your songs?

I think people inspire me the most when writing. There's only so much of yourself you can put into words
and as I mentioned before I find it compelling to people watch and kind of build a story around them then
channel that into my writing. A lot of my best work has never actually been about myself, of course, there
are elements but mostly about scenarios I've witnessed from strangers.

Two weeks ago, you released the Future House Mix, a real club banger! In your case creativity really works. What are your plans with this one and what’s next?

Well, I like to release different mixes to give people who haven't seen me live before an idea of what to
expect at one of my shows. I've also been producing and writing a lot of material recently and am looking
to release my second single in early 2019.

Who are your favourite DJs/ music producers? How do you incorporate their work in your sound?

I'm a huge fan of Avicii, Daft Punk, David Guetta to name a few. But I think as a music producer you
have to look beyond your own genre to really create great tracks! I think a broad mind is what makes
any producer a great one and being able to recognise something for being great and taking ideas from
it and making it your own is the essential ingredients to great songwriting.

Any plans to go on tour?

Yes definitely! I'm really excited to hit the road on the back of Can't Get You Off My Mind! Will keep you
posted on this one!
